Henrietta the cat

Henrietta, adult female

Henrietta is about three years old and is the best lap cap in the main room. She loves people and will shower you with attention, but she likes to be the queen of the castle and doesn't get along well with other cats. If you're a home that would be happy with just one cat, she's the perfect match for you! Read more about Henrietta.

What's New

California Chihuahuas Up for Adoption

Small Miracles has received our eighth transport of 15 Chihuahuas from high-kill facilities in California! We have once again partnered with L.A. Pup My Ride, a program of Best Friends Animal Society that transports animals out of high-kill shelters.

Adoptable Chihuahuas are listed on Petfinder. The dogs receive a veterinary exam, spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test, Lyme disease test, Bordatella vaccine, distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine if age appropriate, stool check, de-wormer and flea medication if needed. The adoption fee is $300, payable by cash or check.

Reduced Adoption Fees for Cats

Small Miracles is reducing adoption fees temporarily to encourage adoption and open up space to save even more felines.

The adoption fee for one kitten remains $135, but if you adopt a pair, the fee is just $200. Kittens love a playmate and companion, and they can share a litterbox and water bowl. Consider opening your home to two kittens instead of just one!

To help find homes for our adult cats, we have reduced the adoption fee to $50 for adult cats.

New Ways to Donate via Amazon.com

If you'd like to donate to the homeless cats and dogs awaiting adoption at Small Miracles, consider shopping online for the animals. We have started a wish list at Amazon.com. Items range in price from $5 on up. We've listed necessities, as well as some creature comforts and special treats for our furry friends. Items can be purchased online and shipped directly to the shelter, saving you a trip! Our #1 most requested item is Pedigree wet dog food. Thank you on behalf of all the animals in our care!

Become a Volunteer or Foster Home

Do you love animals and want to get involved in rescue work? Small Miracles has several volunteer opportunities to fit various levels of commitment.

We are currently seeking volunteers to grow our foster home network. Fostering is a rewarding experience where you temporarily house animals in need in your own home until they are ready for adoption. Foster animals include pregnant dogs/cats, nursing dogs/cats and their litters, dogs/cats recovering from injuries or dogs/cats in need of socialization. We recommend having a separate area in your home to care for foster pets; a spare bedroom, bathroom or laundry room works great. The shelter provides all medical care and dry food. Foster homes provide wet food, litter for the kitties, bedding and daily care of the animals. Supplies you purchase to care for foster animals may be tax deductible.

We are also seeking volunteers for shelter and partner pet store operations. Volunteers are needed for cleaning cages, walking dogs, facilitating adoptions and showing dogs at pet stores on weekends.

Due to insurance regulations, volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

To fill out a foster/volunteer application, visit the Volunteer page.

Microchipping with Lifetime Registration

Small Miracles offers low-cost microchipping for your cat or dog with HomeAgain. Cats and dogs adopted from the shelter can receive the microchip, implantation and lifetime registration with no annual fees for a one-time cost of $30. We also offer microchipping for all other animals in the community for $40.

Microchips do not hurt your pet, do not require surgery and never wear out. They are inserted with a routine shot between the shoulder blades. If your pet ever becomes lost and is brought to an animal control facility, shelter or veterinarian, your pet will be scanned for a chip. In combination with a collar and tags, microchips give a lost pet the best chance for a happy homecoming. Stop by during adoption hours on Saturdays or call 410-274-3530 to make an appointment on another day.
